The Prospect League Divisional Playoff Series opened Sunday with the Division winners taking the opening games of their respective best-of-three game series.
East winner Butler edged West Virginia 5-4 and West winner Lafayette was defeated Terre Haute 3-1.
The Blue Sox James Meeker singled in Calvin Scott with the winning run in the top of the 9th for Butler.
The Sox built a 4-2 lead in the 6th before the Miners tied the game in their next at bat.
In Terra Haute, both the Rex and Aviators scored a run apiece in the 3rd then Lafayette crossed the plate twice in the 5th for the win.
The series move to Butler and Lafayette Tuesday for the second game of the series.
