The Chillicothe Cavaliers came away from Marion Franklin Thursday night with a 66-53 win in boys high school basketball. The win was a good "tune-up" for Friday's clash at home with their neighborhood rivals, the Unioto Shermans.
The Cavs led at every stop- holding leads of 24-12 after the first quarter, 36-22 at half, 44-32 after three, and the final of 66-53.
Brandon Maughmer led the CHS scoring with 18 points, Jayvon Maugher had 17 and Jason Benson added 13 points.
Cavs Coach Eric Huffer spoke with WBEX' color analyst Lou Postage after the win, saying "A positive was when things got out of control, the kids kept their composure and handled the things they needed to work on". Huffer added, "We still gave up too many offensive rebounds, but it was a good win going into Friday's game with Unioto".
