Child Survived Hit in Pike; Jeep Crash Closed SR 32 in Jackson County

The Highway Patrol reported two other crashes in the region over the weekend.

A one-vehicle injury crash closed State Route 32 near milepost 8 in Jackson County Sunday afternoon.

27-year-old James Schoolcraft of Wheelersburg was eastbound in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee when he lost control, struck the median, and overturned into the westbound lanes.

Schoolcraft had to be extricated, and he and 22-year-old passenger Nancy Erwin were transported to Holzer Hospital. Schoolcraft was then transported to Grant Hospital with serious injuries.

The westbound lanes of State Route 32 were shut down for more than an hour.

A seven-year-old was struck by a vehicle while crossing State Route 335 near Sunset Lane in Stockdale in eastern Pike County Saturday afternoon.

The child was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with non-life threatening injuries.
