Hillsboro Indians Claim FAC Over Miami Trace in Boys Basketball

FAC CHAMPIONS! The Hillsboro Indians, by virtue of their thrilling 64 -- 58 overtime win over Miami Trace Saturday night, clinched at least a share of the 2020 - 2021 FAC title.

It was never easy........HHS led by nine points in the fourth period. However, the Panthers mounted a valiant comeback to tie the game at 44 and force the extra frame. In overtime, Ryan Scott scored five quick points to give the Indians a bit of a cushion.

In addition, Jakwon Clark hit two cold-blooded 3's to give Hillsboro a lead that was never really challenged.  It was Clark in the second quarter who had sparked a sluggish HHS offense with eight points and provide a 26 -- 21 advantage at halftime. For his steady play throughout the game (and scoring 17 points), Clark was named the WSRW "player of the game."

Coach Miles Burton, speaking after the win (and post-game celebration), said how proud he was of the team and the season they have had. He also alluded to the upcoming tournament game the Indians have when they host Gallia Academy on the 25th of February.

With the win, Hillsboro improves their FAC record to 9 -- 1 and their overall mark to 18 -- 2 (and they are currently riding a fourteen game winning streak).
