Ross Grand Jury: Big Penalty Possible for Fighting Sheriff's Deputies

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 15 of their cases Friday, with only one open.

In that one, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, the sheriff's department was dispatched to a residence on State Route 41 near Bainbridge regarding a 9-1-1 hangup. The owner said her daughter or granddaughter, 34-year-old Alexis S. Knisely, had threatened her and was possibly using narcotics, and had knocked the phone out of her hand when she dialed.

An officer found Knisely in a bedroom where she threatened the officer and took a fighting stance. While trying to secure her, Knisely hit him in the face, he fell, and Knisely started to strangle him. Another officer assisted, and on the way out of the home, Knisely was kicking and screaming, and spat in the face of a deputy.

For felony indictments on assault, attempted felonious assault, obstructing official business, and harassment with a bodily substance, Knisely could get up to 11 1/2 years and $25,000 in fines.
