Gabriel Hernandez, a wealthy businessman with two daughters, is living the high stress life in Mexico city. A close friend was kidnapped and killed by the Mexican mafia. Gabriel makes a difficult decision to send Veronica and Patricia to live in the US. Veronica falls in love with Mauricio, who is only interested in her fortune. Patricia, the youngest daughter, gets cancer and things get very difficult for the family. Time is very valuable right now and Veronica still has to prepare for an even more painful episode in her life after Mauricio takes all their fortune. By then, Veronica is left with a broken heart and nothing in the bank to take care of the expensive medical bills. Dr. Alonzo Villareal meets the family during this tough time and helps Veronica get stronger and focus on her sister who is very ill.
