An 8-0 start for the Red Devils of Saint Clairsville proved to be an omen of
things to come for Chillicothe, as the Cavs battled-back, only to lose 59-52 in the Division 2 Regional Semis at Ohio University Thursday night.
CHS rallied to tie the score 10-10 after one quarter, but trailed 24-18 at halftime. Chillicothe got their first lead of the game at 29-28 with 4:28 left in the third period on an Aaron Elliott three-pointer. But, CHS found themselves down 38-35 after three periods.
Falling behind 45-40 in the
fourth quarter, CHS fought-back to tie the score 46-46 at 2:43 remaining on a
MaLik London put-back. But, within 43 seconds, the Cavs were down 52-46.
The Red Devils built leads back to 59-50, before finishing with the 59-52 win to gain their 21st straight win and improve to (22-2). Chillicothe ends their season at (16-8), losing for a second straight season in the regional semis.
MaLik London of Chillicothe led all players, with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Zach Johnson added 12 points, Adam Bixler 9 and Aaron Elliott 7 points.
Dan Monteroso led Saint Clairsville with 23 points and Dylan Campbell added 12.
Chillicothe shot 22/45 from the field for 48%- including 2/9 from the arc. Saint Clairsville was 18/46 from the field- including 9/25 from the arc, but also went 14/22 at the free throw line.
