Chillicothe enters this week’s game on a wave of momentum following their 38-7 Homecoming Night win over Warren.

Coach Ron Hinton has a 2-0 record over the Chieftains during his tenure as leader of the Cavs. The 2010 contest featured a see-saw battle as the Cavs closed out the season with a 21-18 win at Logan. Last year Chillicothe got the job done at Herrnstein Field, 29-10.

Logan enters the game having allowed twice as many points as they scored (34-17 points per game) and a 1-6 record. Their lone victory on the season came in week one over Portsmouth.

“These kind of teams are hard to beat… you gotta go down with a lot of respect and do what you need to do (to get the job done)” said Hinton.

Part of the reason is respecting the Logan running game. Tailback Cory McCarty crossed the 1,000 yard rushing mark last week. The Cavs didn’t see McCarty last season because of an injury.

Hinton adds, “They’re gonna lineup, be in their I (formation) and here they come!”

The Chieftains’ greatest difficulty is in the first and third quarters. Logan has been outscored 130-41 at the start of both halves.

Junior quarterback Jack Music (5’8/180lbs) runs the offense, and fullback Isaac Schmeltzer (5’9/165lbs) paves the way for McCarty who averages 5.4 yards per carry.

Coverage of the game begins at 7:05pm with “Game Night with the Cavs” on 1490 WBEX, wbex.com and WBEX on iheartradio.
