With four weeks to go in the high school football regular season things in the SCOL are starting to get really interesting with this week games featuring a battle of two state ranked teams in their first ever meeting & a battle between Ready & another SCOL opponent.
CHILLCOTHE (6-0/3-0) AT CLINTON-MASSIE (5-1/2-0)
The Falcons will try to extend their 34 SCOL game winning streak against the hot Cavaliers.
Chillicothe at 6-0 is state ranked 7th in Division 3 but more importantly they are 2nd in their region. Markel Cain has come on strong after back to back multi touchdown games against Washington CH & Greenfield McClain. Cavaliers have outscored their last 2 opponents 116-6 & have a run of six quarters in a row of keeping teams out of the end zone.
Clinton-Massie bounced back after their loss at DeSales with a 77-0 win over Hillsboro last Friday with Bayle Wolf scoring all 4 times that he had the ball in the 1st half. He already has over 900 yards rushing & 15 TDs on the ground in just 5 games. Falcons are averaging 46 points per game & giving up only about 9 points a contest including two shutouts both in the SCOL.
“I don’t have any doubt we’re going to play hard” said Coach Ron Hinton. “I really believe we’re gonna play well. The question is do we play good enough?”
The Cavs are walking into an established program. “We gotta slow the express down” Hinton said of trying to keep Wolf in check. “We can’t let them get out of the box early. If they get out of the box early, we’re in trouble, because it’s gonna be hard to play catch up with these guys. They can score points in a hurry. You bat an eye and boom… they got ya pinned and they’re scorin’.”
The only blemish on Clinton-Massie’s schedule was two weeks ago at DeSales, a 21-15 loss in which two special teams plays by the Stallions turned the game around.
However, the Flacons know how to win the big one after a 15-0 season in 2012 and hoisting the Division VI trophy last November. “Experience is on their side, but youth and excitement is on our side” said Hinton.

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE (3-3/1-1) AT GREENFIELD MCCLAIN (3-3/0-3)

Last year Greenfield won 21-15 at Gardner Park as Thom Schrader threw for 133 yards & a TD. He added two more scores on the ground as the Tigers forced three Blue Lions turnovers.
Tye Smith ran for 120 yards & a TD in last year’s game & Travis Leisure had over 100 yards in offense. Josh Williams threw for 110 yards in the contest.
BISHOP READY (6-0) AT MIAMI TRACE (5-1/2-1) Broadcast on Buckeye Country & WCHO-FM on iheartradio
Its homecoming at Panther Stadium this weekend & the Panthers host Bishop Ready who put 98 points on Washington CH last week.
Ready averaging over 53 points a game & has gone over the 48 point mark 4 times already this season. Team is led by Akili Taylor who has already rushed for about 900 yards & 10 TDs. Matt Yoho has thrown for 9 TDs & rushed for 4 more already equaling his total scores of all last season. Ready has a highly recruited lineman in Brady Taylor a 6-5 275 pounder who has verbally committed to Virginia Tech.
Miami Trace is led by a balancing running attack with Trevor Haines leading the way. Trevor unofficially has 700 yards rushing & 13 rushing TDs. Jimmy Stroker already has over a 1000 yards in total offense this season so far. Miami Trace is averaging about 38 points a game & giving up 18 points a game.
HILLSBORO (1-5/0-2) AT EAST CLINTON (2-4/1-2)
This is the first time that Hillsboro Head Coach Matt Hodges will face off against his former team. East Clinton with Hodge as the Astros Head Coach won 31-26 last year at Hillsboro using a running game behind Max Morrow to make up for the loss of Dalton Floyd who didn’t play due to a concussion.
Floyd leads this year’s wide open Astros offense closing in already on the 1000 yards passing mark with about 80% of his passing & yardage coming from Clyde Snow.
Hillsboro is trying to get to snap a 9 game SCOL game losing streak &trying to get their first SCOL win in 2 seasons.
