BOYS SOCCER: Cavs Take Unioto in 2 OT's

The same night Chillicothe Girls picked up a double overtime tournament victory, the Cavs took extra frames to knock Unioto out of the Boys Sectional Tournament, 1-0.
Justin Ball found the net to score the game's only goal, sending Chillicothe into a Sectional Final with SEOAL foe Warren. The Warriors were 1-0 winners over Gallia Academy.
Chillicothe and Warren finished third and second repectively in SEOAL competition this Fall. The Warriors beat Chillicothe in their first meeting in early September 3-1 and the two teams kicked to a 1-1 draw a couple of weeks later.
The next match is Saturday at Warren High School with a 4pm first kick.

GIRLS SOCCER: CHS Stuns Warren in 2 OT's 2-1

It's often said beating an opponent three times in one season is a tall task.
Chillicothe proved that Tuesday night in Vincent, Ohio in the Division 1 Sectional Tournament.
Warren had beaten Chillicothe 5-3 and 2-1 this season.
Trailing the Lady Warriors 1-0, Corinne Patino knotted the game in the second half forcing an overtime period.
After the scoreless first OT, the second came to an abrupt end when Kasey Crow found Lindsey Schobelock for the game winner.
The Cavs (7-7-2) will head back to Washington County Thursday to try to avoid a three match season sweep by SEOAL champion Marietta. The Lady Tigers outscored Chillicothe 7-1 in two games this Fall.
CROSS COUNTRY: SEOAL Wrap Up, District Meets This Weekend

The Chillicothe Girls placed 4th and the Boys 6th at last weekend's SEOAL Meet at Gallipolis.
Marietta took the Girls Meet while Warren won the Boys.
Junior Audra Metzler was the top Chillicothe runner for the day, posting a time of 21:02.6, a little over two minutes over the pace set by Gallia Academy's Peyton Adkins who took Girls Medalist honors with a 19:01.1.
Freshman Ben Haller was the leading Boys runner finishing 21st with a time of 19:10.8. Warren's Wes Cochran was the Meet Medalist with a 16:19.4.
The Cavaliers will run in separate locations Saturday. The Boys will face the Division 2 competition at The University of Rio Grande while the Girls will head to the Division 1 competition held in the Central District at Watkins Memorial High School in the afternoon.
TENNIS: 5 Cavaliers All-SEOAL, Disbennett C.O.Y.

Janet Disbennett led her Cavalier Tennis team to another SEOAL championship and was named Coach of the Year.
Chillicothe finished the SEOAL season 8-0 for their 4th championship in five seasons. The Cavs began play in the league in 2006.
Portsmouth's Ali Miller was chose Player of the Year.
Five Cavaliers were named All-SEOAL, led by seniors Georgia Bennett, Kara Smith and Alex Camponeschi and sophomores Parisa Bennett and Courtney Berry. For Georgia Bennett, it's her fourth consecutive year as an All-SEOAL member and third time for Kara Smith.
Chillicothe sophomore Tiffany Noel was an Honorable Mention.

Cavs Volletball Win DH at Waverly

The Chillicothe Volleyball team finished the regular season with a double header sweep of Unioto and Waverly Saturday.
After dropping the first set to Unioto 26-24, the Cavs bounced back with a 25-21 victory and finished off the Shermans with 25-17 win.
Host Waverly took Chillicothe to the brink, but the Cavs won game one 26-24 and Chillicothe gained a 25-20 score for the two game sweep.
Unioto beat Waverly in three games after losing the opening game 25-17, the Shermans won 28-26, 27-25.
The Cavs open post season play at Hamilton Township in the Central Disitrict Division 1 tournament next week, playing Olentangy Orange in the opening round.
Warren Hands Cavs First SEOAL Loss 17-13

The Chillicothe offense sputtered and the defense gave up its first scores of the season in a 17-13 loss to the Warren Warriors Friday night.
The loss ends a three game Cavalier winning streak and slips them into a tie for second in the SEOAL with Gallia Academy.
Chillicothe got on the board on their third play when Casey Oates broke a 54 yard run for a score 1:22 into the game for a 7-0 lead.
Warren managed to have quick strikes in their two touchdowns.
Until the final minute of the half, the Cavs kept Warren at bay until the Warriors' Grant Venham matched the Pates run with a 54 yard score of his own for a 7-7 tie with 22 seconds remaining before halftime.
Prior to the score, Warren's Dylan Leffingwell had completed 8-of-19 passes for 78 yards. Then the Warriors handed off to Venham for the tie.
In the second half, Warren began to move the ball offensively while the Cavs stalled.
After a Chillicothe punt, Warren took its first lead on a 74 yard Leffingwell pass to Venham to go ahead 14-0.
On the next Cavalier possession, the Warriors' Jeremy Fivecoat intercepted a pass setting up a 23 yard field goal by Chas Miller for a 17-7 lead with 1:39 left.
A Warren pooch kick gave the Cavs the ball at their own 36 yard line. On the first play, Max Corcoran hit Isaac Beverly on a 64 yard TD pass, but the PAT was no good, 17-13.
Chillicothe's on-side kick was recovered at midfield by Warren to seal the victory.
Chillicothe managed only 273 yards offense, 156 on the ground led by Casey Oates' 99 yards.
Warren had 368 total yards, with 143 rushing yards on 30 carries by four runners. Leffingwell finished 17-of-35 passing for 225 yards.
Chillicothe (3-1/3-5) will head to Jackson (4-0/7-1) next Friday. The Ironmen were 33-10 winners over Marietta Friday.
Warren (1-3/5-3) will host Gallia Academy (3-1/6-2).
Cavs Tennis Doubles Team Falls to Watterson Duo

The tournament trail ended in the Division 1 District Tennis Tournament for Chillicothe's of Georgia Bennett and Kara Smith.
The Doubles Team dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Watterson's Olivia Ott and Courtney Brown at Hilliard Davidson Friday.
Bennett and Smith reached the District Tournament by sweeping their competition in the Sectional Tournament at Ohio University last week.
Dawes and Xavier Continue Fall Play

The Xavier Muskateers played two Blue-White baseball games over the weekend. Former Chillicothe Cavalier, Seth Dawes is on the Blue team and went 2-for-6 with an 2 RBIs and two walks. The Blue team won 12-0 Saturday, but dropped a 5-4 decision Sunday.
Game three of the fall series will be Thursday afternoon in Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
Chillicothe Football Emeritus Recipient Dies at 94

Former Chillicothe football player, Robert Strausbaugh died at Riverside Methodist Hospital Monday following a brief illness. He was 94.
September 26, 2008 Strausbaugh became the first recipient of the Chillicothe Football Emeritus Award, given to varsity letter winners over the age of 70.
Strausbaugh played for the Chillicothe Vikings in the 1930s in the same backfield with his brother Jim who went on to star at Ohio State and play for the Chicago Cardinals. The Cavs had the then 92 year-old Strausbaugh score a ceremonial touchdown during pregame festivities. He also addressed the team prior to the game.
Funeral services for Strausbuagh will be held Thursday at 11am at Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe.

Post Season Draw for Volleyball and Soccer

The Chillicothe Boys Soccer team has been finishing strong to close the regular season.
While it's been a year of regrouping following three SEOAL championship seasons, the Cavs have battled their way into third place tie with Logan following last week's play.
At Sunday's draw, the Cavs (6-5-4) earned the right to host Unioto (6-5-2) in the first round of the Sectional tournament. The game at McVicker's Field is Tuesday 10/19 with a 6pm first kick. (Click here for the complete bracket)
The Lady Cavs Soccer team will travel to face Warren on Tuesday 10/19 at 5pm. Chillicothe dropped decisions of 5-3 and 2-1 to the Warriors this season. (Click here for the complete bracket)
