The Cavalier Volleyball team remains perfect in SEOAL play thanks to a straight sets victory at Jackson, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-17.
Coach Bret Wrightsel said the Cavs let a huge lead of 17-10 slip away with hitting errors and poor passing. Chilllicothe had 19 hitting errors “which translates to 6 points per game that you are giving the opponent” said Wrightsel. “We can’t play that sloppy and expect to win close matches.”
Parisa Bennet led the team in digs with 16 and Hayley Robinson had 32 assists on the night and also served 15 of 17 for 88% with 3 aces. Katelyn Martin also served well as she was 10 of 11 for 91% and 3 aces and also led the team in kills with 14.
The Varsity is now 7-3 on the season and 3-0 in the SEOAL and have swept the first 3 league matches in sets at 9-0.
The Freshman team won again to move to 4-0 and JV also won to improve to 4-3.
Both the JV and Varsity will be at Dublin Scioto this Saturday for a quad tournament the features Chillicothe, Dublin Scioto, Thomas Worthington and Athens.
In Singles action, Taylor Sprouse (1st) and Liann VanVolkinberg (2nd) earned wins while Tiffany Noel (3rd) had a good start, winning 6-2, but then fell to Kelly Speirs 6-1, 6-1 to finish the match.
In Doubles, Courtney Berry/Ellen Schmitt (1st) and Jessica Pentacost/Amanda Mares were straight set winners.
The (12-1) Cavs play in the Hilliard Classic Saturday morning.
It was a rough night for Chillicothe Girls Soccer. The Lady Cavs lost at Dublin Scioto 9-0.
The (2-4) Cavs are back in action Tuesday to host Circleville.
