The Chillicothe Girls Tennis Team defeated Portsmouth 4-1 to improve to 5-0 in the SEOAL and earn its 13th straight match victory.
Taylor Sprouse suffered her first loss of the season in1st Singles, falling to Ali Miller 6-0,6-1.
The Cavs swept the rest of the matches… Parisa Bennett and Liann VanVolkinburg winning with identical 6-0,6-0 scores. 1st Doubles team of Courtney Berry-Ellen Schmitt (6-0,6-1) and 2nd Doubles Tiffany Noel-Amanda Mares won (6-0,6-0).
Chillicothe will meet Portsmouth again in a makeup match from September 5th next Tuesday for a chance to claim the League Championship.
The Lady Cavs travel to play at Dublin Jerome on Wednesday.
Chillicothe hosted Gallia Academy and for a fourth consecutive league match won in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-18. The Cavs are 9-5 overall and remain unbeaten the SEOAL. The Cavs have not lost a set yet at 12-0.
Statistically for Chillicothe Coach Bret Wrightsel said “Hayley Robinson led the charge with 32 assists feeding hitters Katelyn Martin with 9 kills and Caroline Benson and Maddi Glendening both with 8 each. Parisa Bennett had 9 digs defensively and served up 3 aces on 12 of 13 serving attempt for 92% and Glendening was 13 of 15 for 87% and 3 aces.”
Chillicothe travels to Portsmouth on Thursday to wrap up the first round of SEOAL play.
The Golf Team finished third in a tri-match with Hillsboro and host Jackson at Franklin Valley. The Ironmen won the match with a team score of 164, but Hillsboro’s Austin Bagshaw scored a 34 for medalist honors.
The Cavs duffers were led by Gabe Preston’s 38. Pierce Knisley carded a 46, Jake Brown 49 and Kurtis King a 55.
Chillicothe will finish the regular season schedule Thursday at Wellston.

The 2012 ALL-SEOAL Boys Golf Team has been announced.
Chillicothe’s Gabe Preston has averaged just over 39 strokes per contest to receive All-League honors. Logan Holbrook of Logan was selected Player of the Year and Warren’s Nathan Evans the Coach of the Year.
