Chillicothe’s Ben Haller earned his first Cross Country Meet victory, winning the Boys’ Division of the Jackson Invitational Thursday with a time of 17:34.74.
As a team, the Boys placed 5th behind Vinton County, Athens, Jackson and Logan.
The Cavs’ Elyse Black had the top finish for the Girls in 35th place. As a team, the Lady Cavs placed 7th. Athens was the overall Girls winner.
The teams aren’t back in action until next Saturday (9/29) at Piketon.
GOLF:
The Golf Team won a dual match with Wellston Thursday, 189-193 to close the regular season.
Pierce Knisley was medalist with a 40.
Other Cavs scores, Gabe Preston 44, Kurtis King 52 and Jake Brown 53.
VOLLEYBALL:
The Cavalier volleyball team won at Portsmouth Thursday night in 3 sets 25-5, 25-16, 25-18 keeping their sweep of straight sets versus SEOAL opponents alive with a 15-0 mark.
Statistical leaders were Katelyn Martin serving 17 of 20 for 85% and 7 aces. Nikki Alberta served up 17 of 19 for 89% and 5 aces. Hayley Robinson tallied 38 assists and Megan Osborne, Maddi Glendening and Emilie Kemper all had 4 digs a piece. Kills were led by Glendening with 12 and Kali Kight with 9.
The Lady Cavs are 10-5 overall and 5-0 in SEOAL league play with a road trip to Logan this Monday.
TENNIS:
Chillicothe dropped a 3-2 match with Pickerington North, losing back-to-back matches for the first time this season.
The Cavs’ Taylor Sprouse (6-1,6-0) and Parisa Bennett (6-0,6-0) picked up wins in 1st and 2nd Singles, but Liann VanVolkinburg dropped her 3rd Singles match (7-6,6-2) as did Doubles teams Courtney Berry-Ellen Schmitt (7-6,6-4) and Tiffany Noel-Amanda Mares (6-3,6-3).
The Cavs are 13-3 on the season and travel to face East Clinton Monday.
SOCCER:
Chillicothe picked up a 2-1 win over Warren in Boys Soccer last night.
The Lady Cavs Soccer team lost a 6-3 decision at Warren.
