Beverly, Osborne Earn All-Ohio Status at State Meet

Megan Osborne and Isaac Beverly are All-Ohioans after their performances at Jesse Owens Track at Ohio State Universaity Saturday.
In the Boys Division II Meet, Beverly grabbed 4th place in the 400 Meter Dash with a 49.14, edged out of third by .01 seconds.
In the Girls Division I Meet, Osborne finished 6th in the 400 with a time of 57.12 seconds.
As a team, the Boys finished 34th and the Girls 50th in the state.
Other participants competing, but not reaching the podium:
-- Alyssa Mathis finished 14th in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:19.79, 9 seconds off the winning time of 2:10.36.
-- Monique Lee threw for 112' 9" in the Discus, but fell 13' shy of placing.
-- Audra Metzler was 10th in the Long Jump (17' 1.5") missing 8th place by just 5 inches.
-- Cameron Lowe finished 13th in the Boys 800 Meter Run with a 2:00.77, 8 seconds back of the leader
-- The 4x400 Meter Relay placed 8th with a time of 3:27.26 (Team of Isaac Beverly, Tyler Semancik, Patrick Byrd and Cameron Lowe.)

4 Cavalier Boys to Run at OSU in State Meet

Four Cavalier boys will join the girls at the Ohio State Track and Field Meet next weekend.
Isaac Beverly failed to qualify in the 200 Meter Dash and finished 2nd in the 400 Meter Dash (49.49) missing 1st place by .03 seconds.
Cameron Lowe placed 3rd in the 800 Meter Run (1:57.72).
Both Lowe and Beverly will join Tyler Semancik and Patrick Byrd on the 4x400 Meter Relay Team which placed 4th (3:28.31).
As a team, the boys placed 11th.
Lady Cavs Fare Well at Pickerington; Lods and Seymour State Run Ends

Chillicothe's John Lods and Gabe Seymour had a short run in the Division 2 Boys Tennis State Tournament at Ohio State University's Stickney Tennis Center. After easily winning their opening match 6-1, 6-0 against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the Cavs Doubles Team fell to Columbus Academy 6-4, 6-3.
The loss marks the end of the high school tennis career of Lods who was selected the SEOAL Player of the Year three consecutive seasons. Lods will attend Purdue University and hopes to walk on with the Boilermakers tennis team. Seymour will return as a senior in the Fall 2010.
In the Girl's Division 1 Track and Field Meet at Pickerington North High School, Chillicothe advanced a handful of athletes to next week's State Meet at Jesse Owens Track at Ohio State University.
Freshman Megan Osborne will participate in three events after winning the Regional championship in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 56.60. Osborne also qualified for state by taking 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash (25.17) and 4th in the 100 Meter Dash (12.25).
Alyssa Mathis placed 4th in the 800 Meter Run (2:18:40). Monique Lee placed 4th in the Discus with a throw of 120' 7" and Audra Metzler finished 2nd in the Long Jump, leaping 17' 3".
The State Meet will be Friday and Saturday (6/4 & 6/5).

Boys Track Results from Thursday's Regional Meet

The Cavaliers had four qualifiers for Saturday's Division II Regional Finals at Meadowbrook High School on Thursday. Isaac Beverly qualified in each of his three events (see below).
The Unioto Shermans 4x800 Meter Relay Team of Adrian Ross, Shane Maier, Doug French and Ryan Valentine not only won the event to qualify for the State Meet, they also by set a new stadium record (8:04.46). Circleville finished second.

TRACK & FIELD: Day 1 for Girls, Boys Begin Today

Chillicothe's Hannah McCorkle missed qualifying for the state in Girls Division 1 Meet at Pickerington North High School, placing 5th in the High Jump.
Megan Osborne qualified for the Friday's finals in the 100, 200, and 400 Meter Dashes. Osborne's 56.59 time in the 400 is a new Cavalier Girls track record, a record she set earlier in the season.
The 4x200 Meter Relay team failed to qualify for the finals.
Joining Osborne in competition Friday, Alyssa Mathis runs in the 800 Meters, Monique Lee in the Discus and Audra Metzler in the Long Jump.
The Boys will compete in the Division 2 Meet at Meadowbrook High School in Byesville this afternoon (4pm).
Participants include Isaac Beverly in the 200 and 400 Meter Dashes, Marty Dunn in the 100, Cameron Lowe in the 800 Meter Run and the 4x400 Relay Team. Finals will be Saturday.
Lods-Seymour #1 Seed In State Tourney

John Lods and Gabe Seymour defeated Cambridge in the Division II Tennis District tournament Sunday 6-4, 6-3.
Due to OHSAA rules, competitors are limited to three competitions per day. Lods and Seymour had qualified for state Saturday, but needed to finish up with Cambridge Sunday because the team had played three matches to reach the seed final against Chillicothe.

Cavs Doubles Team in District Final

Boys' Division II District Tennis Doubles Final is set. Chillicothe's John Lods and Gabe Seymour have qualified for next weekend's state tournament in Columbus and will face the team from Cambridge Sunday at 11:30am for state seeding at Ohio University in Athens.
It's the second trip to the state competition for Lods and Seymour where Cincinnati Seven Hills knocked the duo out of the state tournament in the first round in 2009.
The Cavaliers were 6-0, 6-1 winners over Unioto's Pete Clark and Tyler McClure in the Semi-Final to qualify for the state tournament.
Cambridge advanced to the Final by dispatching Dover 7-5, 6-4.
Lods and Seymour are the only Cavs still alive in the tournament.
Earlier today, the first casualty was the double teams of Bevens and Rieske from Waverly, falling to West Holmes. The boys from Millersburg were quick work for Lods and Seymour who breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Clark and McClure advanced by beating Gallia Academy 6-4, 6-1 then got the match with Chillicothe by taking Clark Coshocton 7-6 (8), 6-2.
In the first round, Dallin Patino and Luke Wagner of Chillicothe had a marathon match with Isaiah Carson and Zack Carson of Miami Trace. Carson and Carson advanced with a 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) victory. The road ended for the Carsons falling to Cambridge 6-1, 6-2. In singles, the Cavs' Tyler Allen advanced with a 6-2, 7-5 victory in his opening match, but fell to Ryan Shutt of Coshocton 6-1, 6-1. Grant Markley and Justin Ball both lost their matches. Markley fell to Cambridge's Aaron Ruby 6-1, 6-2. Ball dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Hiland's Brad Mullet.
Mullet's day came to an end in a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Circleville's Phillip Locklear. Locklear's match with Anderson Ribeiro of Martins Ferry went three rounds with Riberio advancing 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

16 Cavaliers advance to Regional Track Meet

The Chillicothe Girls will send 9 athletes to the Regional Meet at Pickerington North High School next week.
Megan Osborne was the big winner at Groveport-Madison High School, winning both the 200 (25.00) and 400 (57.43) Meter Dashes and placed 2nd in the 100 (12.36) Meter Dash.
Also qualifying for the next level on Saturday, Alyssa Mathis who finished 2nd in the 800 Meter Run (2:21.08).
The 4x200 Relay Team of Kailey Longpre, Erin Barnes, Emilie Kemper and Nicole Alberta placed 4th (1:49.14), but the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Longpre, Mathis, Kemper and Osborne fell short of qualifying by placing 5th at (4:08.87). Hannah McCorckle also fell short Saturday, placing 5th (5:31) in the 1600 Meter Run.
Qualifying earlier in the week, Audra Metzler who won the Lung Jump (1st, 16' 8.25"), Monique Lee in the Discus (4th, 111' 2"), Hannah McCorkle in the High Jump (tied-2nd, 5')
As a team, Chillicothe placed 4th overall behind New Albany, Dublin Scioto and Hilliard Darby.
The Cavalier Boys finished 6th in the Division II District Meet at Washington Court House. Sheridan edged Unioto 101-100 with Circleville third followed by Southeastern and Farifield Union ahead of Chillicothe.
Seven Cavs will head to the Regional at Byesville's Meadowbrook High School include the 4x800 Meter Relay of Tyler Semancik, Paul Horning, Jacob Scharfetter and Cameron Lowe finishing 4th (8:34), Marty Dunn a 3rd place finisher in the 100 Meter Dash (11.5), and qulifying in two events, Isaac Beverly in the 400 Meter Dash (2nd, 50.52) and 200 Meter Dash (2nd, 23.38). Beverly is also part of the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay with Semancik, Patrick Byrd and Lowe, they finished 2nd (3:31.48).
The Boys 4x200 Meter Relay - Brandon Whittaker, Patrick Byrd, Isaac Beverly and Troy Netter missed qualifying by 1.2 seconds, placing 5th.
