Cavs Back In Action
Wednesday 04-13-2011 10:53pm ET
Baseball: Three Portsmouth Runs In 5th Doom Cavaliers The baseball team got off to a great start, getting two runs in the first inning. But a 3 run 5th inning propelled Portsmouth to a 5-3 win over the Cavaliers. Freshman Jalen Miscule went 2-3 at the plate. On the mound Nolan Taylor, another freshman, went the distance striking out 3 Trojan batters. This was the Cavaliers first game since Saturday, and coach Marty Dunn says that it's hard to develop consistency when numerous games are postponed due to the weather. The team has been hard at work in practice during these rain outs, and coach Dunn says wins may be just right around the corner for his team. Click Here
Softball: Cavs Come Back From Layoff With 12-2 Win The softball team came out rusty after the layoff, but quickly came around defeated Portsmouth 12-2 in 5 innings. This was the Lady Cavaliers first game since last Friday's tough 12-10 loss to Warren in a 12 inning game. Defense was the key in that game, and coach Greg Phillips feels his team let that game slip right away. Even though Portsmouth didn't put as much pressure on the Lady Cavaliers defense, coach Phillips says his team did a much better off with their defense. Rylie Boullion pitched all 5 innings for the Cavaliers, getting the win. Bouillion racked up 5 strike outs, while not allowing a single walk on the day. Four Cavaliers got 2 hits behind the plate in the game. Click Here
Both the baseball and softball teams will host Logan Thursday night in makeup games from March 30th.

Cavs Friday (4-8) Recap
Friday 04-08-2011 10:08pm ET
Softball: Warren Defeats Chillicothe In 12 Innings
It took 12 innings for Warren to defeat the Chillicothe Cavaliers 12-10 Friday. The game started off great for the Lady Cavaliers as they took 8-3 lead through 4 innings. Warren came back in a big way, scoring 6 unanswered to take a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the 7th. A Cavalier run in the 7th forced extra innings with the score tied 9-9. Both teams were unable to produce a run in the first 3 extra innings, then traded a run each in the 11th. Warren was then able to get two run in the 12th and held Chillicothe in check in the bottom half of the inning to improve to 6-0 on the year. Cavs coach Greg Phillips says his team hit well at the plate tonight. It just defensive miscues that kept the Cavaliers from beating a very good Warren ball club, as 8 of their 12 runs were unearned. Before Friday's game, Warren only went past the 5th inning one time in their first 5 games. For Chillicothe, Marissa Webb went 4-6 at the plate. Rylie Boullion went the distance on the mound, striking out 3 and giving up 4 runs. The Cavs fall to 3-3 on the year, and will travel to Washington Court House for a double header on Saturday afternoon.
Baseball: Tough Night For The Cavaliers
Warren not only has a great softball team, but also on the baseball diamond. They proved it on Friday as they defeated Chillicothe 17-0 in 5 innings. The Warriors gave up on 3 hits on the night. A bright spot for the Cavaliers was the hitting of Shawn Jackson, as he went 2 for 2 on the night. The Cavaliers will be right back at it tomorrow as they travel to Westfall to take on the defending SVC Champions in a double header. The Mustangs edged Zane Trace 4-3 on Friday.
Cavs Thursday (4-7) Recap

Cavs Softball Come Back From Slow Start For Win Over Huntington
Five days without a game can seem forever in softball, and the Lady Cavs showed their rust early giving up 3 runs in the first inning to Huntington. From there on it was all Chillicothe, as the Lady Cavs picked up a 5-4 win. The Lady Huntsmen gave Chillicothe fits over the last few seasons, but coach Greg Phillips says it's good to get quality win over a team like Huntington. With two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning, Marissa Webb was able to knock in 2 runs with a single for the game winner. Rylie Boullion gets the win for the Lady Cavs. Chillicothe improves to 3-2 on the year and will host Warren Friday. Click Here
Cavs Baseball Fall To Huntington 11-8
On the baseball diamond the Cavaliers staged two comebacks Thursday night, but a third one was too much as they fell to Huntington by a score of 11-8. Chillicothe trailed at one point 3-0 to tie the game at 3, and then were down 7-3, only to tie it at 7. With the score tied 7-7, Huntington got 4 runs in the 7th inning to go up 11-7. The Cavaliers were able to get a run in the bottom half of the inning, but it was not enough to get their first win on the year. Duane Irvin and Scottie Perkins each hit Home Runs for the Huntsmen, and Jalen Miscule went yard for the Cavaliers. Irvin gets the win for Huntington, while Brandon Bonar gets the loss for the Cavaliers. Chillicothe look for that first win on the year as they host Warren Friday.

CHS Track Teams 2011
Sunday 04-03-2011 2:34pm ET
The Chillicothe boys and girls varsity track squads started the season in promising form after earning team victories at the Jackson Invitational, last Tuesday. Boys' Coach Pat Laughlin says his mid-sprints and mid-distances should be pretty strong with Casey Oates running the 200m, 400m, and 4x4 relay, Isaac Beverly, who finished fourth in the state in the 400m, and Cameron Lowe, who ran the 800m race in the state meet, returning,
On the girls' side, Coach Steve Semancik says they look to be strong all across the board.
"We're returning three girls who competed at the state meet; Alyssa Mathis in the distance, Megan Osbourne in the sprints, and Audra Metzler in the long jump, so that's a good nucleus to start with."

CHS Girls Lacrosse 2011
Saturday 04-02-2011 10:56am ET
Chillicothe's girls are fielding a club lacrosse team this season after getting started with the sport in the summer. Ryan Camponeschi is leading the coaching effort: "I'm kind of glad to get it started up here in Ross County with these girls and their full official first season with it." After meeting with the school board, Coach Camponeshi said that the lacrosse team became backed by the high school, and he hopes they can field an official team by next season.
Alex Camponeschi is the team captain, while Chantel Lowe is the co captain.
As for positions, Coach Camponeschi says he is still trying to determine how he'll field his roster: "They vary quite a bit in skills and necessary components of the game."
He says the sport is very new to many of the players, but that they've been attending training camps to try to improve.
"We've got some new girls who are really doing well. We're working on all the fundamentals (and) getting their skills down."

Seniors Tyler Allen and Grant Markley will play second and third singles, respectively.
Seniors Dallin Patino and Ben Buchanan lead the doubles teams; in second doubles, sophomore Noah Adams will play along side Gabe Preston, a sophomore, and Senior Seve Aradondo, as Preston and Aradondo will be rotating.
Coach Brad Seymour has high hopes for his team: "Last year, we won our league pretty handily, so we're expecting to do that again. For the team tournament, we won one match, last year, and we're hoping to improve on that."

The Cavs travel to Hillsboro, Friday, in their season opener.
