The Lady Cavs got off to a great start in thier final home Lacrosse match Friday. The night following their second win of the season (13-3 at Delaware), their euphoria was short-lived.
After trailing the Cavs 5-3 at the half, Dayton Chaminade-Julienne stormed back for 14 goals in the second half and a 17-11 victory.
The Eagles tied the game at 5-5 to start the second half, but Sarah Lossie and Anna Degarmo had quick strikes to regain the lead at 7-5. Less than a minute later, Chaminade-Julienne began to heat up.
DCJ scored two more times before the Cavs' Kaitlyn Cunningham broke that tie (8-7) at the 17:22 mark. It would be the last lead for Chillicothe.
The Eagles outscored the Lady Cavs 10-3 the rest of the way.
Whitney Watts led Chillicothe (2-5) with 5 goals.
Chillicothe will play at Pickerington Central Wednesday.
CIRCLEVILLE INVITATIONAL
The Chillicothe Track & Field teams were washed out at the Circleville Invitational Friday.
Coach Dana Cousins reports Trevan Pennington won the 110 Hurdles (15.2), Jalen Jones took the High Jump (6'2") with Marcus Dunn 2nd (6'). Josh Garrett placed second in discus (153'4") just 5 inches short of the winning distance. "Ben Haller ran his best time in the 1600" said Cousins, who added "We placed in 4x 200, Pole Vault and 100."
On the Girls side, Audra Metzler and Baylee Stark were in the finals of the long jump and sitting 2nd and 4th respectively. The Cavs had the two fastest times in the 200 prelims.
Coach Steve Semancik says the event was called just before the girls 4x 100 Meter Relay. The relay team had just posted their fastest time of the season in the 4x 200 relay.
Semancik added "Corinne Patino won the pole vault with a new personal record of 10 feet. Megan looked strong in running the 100 meter dash in 11.9 seconds." which was her best time of the year.
The Cavs will run in the SEOAL Meet at Warren next Saturday.
