There's a tall task ahead of both the Chillicothe Baseball and Softball teams after earning wins in their tournament wins on Monday.
The Lady Cavs travel to play Central Crossing Wednesday at 5:30pm. The Comets are ranked #2 in the state and are the #1 seed in the Division 1 Cenral District tournament.
The Baseball Cavaliers will play SEOAL champ Gallia Academy Thursday at 5:00pm. The Blue Devils are the #1 seed in the Division 2 Southeast District tournament.
Both teams had exceptional efforts to prolong their tournament lives on Monday.
The Lady Cavs' Rylee Boullion pitched a 4-hit shutout to beat Logan 2-0, and Coach Greg Phillips says the team played well on defense to preserve the shutout. The Cavs scored both runs in the 4th inning at the Mt. Logan complex.
Coach Marty Dunn's Cavaliers made the long trip to Warren and jumped ahead 5-0. The Warriors then scored seven times including five unearned runs. Dunn said Corey Wagner singled in the tying run in the 6th inning. The Cavs scored three more times in the 8th to hold on for a 10-8 victory.
LACROSSE TO HOST DOUBLEHEADER SATURDAY, ALSO TO PLAY IN POST SEASON TOURNAMENT:
Coach Ryan Camponeschi said Wednesday, the Cavs Lacrosse team will be hosting their doubleheader with Centerville this Saturday. The games were originally road games, but Camponeschi says Centerville's coach said the games appeared as road games on their schedule and they had already made plans to travel to Chillicothe.
So, the Cavs will play at 10:30am and 12:00pm at McVicker Field this Saturday.
Camponeschi also says he's been informed the Cavs will play at Lebanon in the first round of the Ohio High School Lacrosse State Club playoffs on Saturday May 19th. Face off will be 11am.
