The Cavalier Boys and Girls teams take to the SEOAL League Meet Saturday at Marietta College.
The Lady Cavs are back to defend their SEOAL title. Chillicothe finished 16 points ahead of Marietta in 2011, but took first in only five events (Megan Osborne 100, 200 & 400 Meter Dashes and Audra Metzler the High Jump and long Jump).
Heading into Saturday's Meet, the Chillicothe Girls own the best times in the League* led by Megan Osborne, 100 Meter Dash (11.9); 200 Meter Dash (24.22) & 400 Meter Dash (56.56), Elaine Wilson, 300 Hurdles (49.53), Corinne Patino, Pole Vault (10'00"), Alyssa Oates, Shot Put (39'10"). 4x 100 Meter Relay (51.90), 4x 200 Meter Relay (1:50.10) and 4x 400 Meter Relay (4:18.00).
The Boys placed fourth in the 2011 Meet and have battled injuries and youth this season. The team hasn't been at full strength for any 2012 meet.
On the Boys side, it could be a three way race between Gallia Academy, Logan and Warren as their teams hold the top spots in events across the League*.

Chillicothe's K.J. King and James Sparks earned a win in their first round of Division 1 Doubles play at the Central District Tennis Sectional held at Reynoldsburg High School Thursday, beating a doubles team from Groveport 6-2, 6-1. Their run ended in the next round falling to a team from Gahanna 6-0, 6-2.
The other Cavalier netters dropped their first round matches.
Gabe Preston and Noah Adams teamed up for Doubles play and had a marathon match with a team from Marysville, eventually losing 2-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5).
Stephen Gilliand fell in Singles 7-5, 0-6, 6-2, Jacob Hirsch fell 6-0, 6-1 and Noah Wright-Piekarski dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision.
As a team, Chillicothe finished the year 2-13.
The Cavs Baseball team lost in its Sectional Championship game at Gallia Academy 11-1 in 6-innings. Chillicothe finishes its 2012 campaign 9-14.
The Cavs Softball team fell in the Central District tournament at #2 Central Crossing 11-0. The Lady Cavs went 10-14 on the season.
There's a tall task ahead of both the Chillicothe Baseball and Softball teams after earning wins in their tournament wins on Monday.
The Lady Cavs travel to play Central Crossing Wednesday at 5:30pm. The Comets are ranked #2 in the state and are the #1 seed in the Division 1 Cenral District tournament.
The Baseball Cavaliers will play SEOAL champ Gallia Academy Thursday at 5:00pm. The Blue Devils are the #1 seed in the Division 2 Southeast District tournament.
Both teams had exceptional efforts to prolong their tournament lives on Monday.
The Lady Cavs' Rylee Boullion pitched a 4-hit shutout to beat Logan 2-0, and Coach Greg Phillips says the team played well on defense to preserve the shutout. The Cavs scored both runs in the 4th inning at the Mt. Logan complex.
Coach Marty Dunn's Cavaliers made the long trip to Warren and jumped ahead 5-0. The Warriors then scored seven times including five unearned runs. Dunn said Corey Wagner singled in the tying run in the 6th inning. The Cavs scored three more times in the 8th to hold on for a 10-8 victory.
LACROSSE TO HOST DOUBLEHEADER SATURDAY, ALSO TO PLAY IN POST SEASON TOURNAMENT:
Coach Ryan Camponeschi said Wednesday, the Cavs Lacrosse team will be hosting their doubleheader with Centerville this Saturday. The games were originally road games, but Camponeschi says Centerville's coach said the games appeared as road games on their schedule and they had already made plans to travel to Chillicothe.
So, the Cavs will play at 10:30am and 12:00pm at McVicker Field this Saturday.
Camponeschi also says he's been informed the Cavs will play at Lebanon in the first round of the Ohio High School Lacrosse State Club playoffs on Saturday May 19th. Face off will be 11am.

The Lady Cavs got off to a great start in thier final home Lacrosse match Friday. The night following their second win of the season (13-3 at Delaware), their euphoria was short-lived.
After trailing the Cavs 5-3 at the half, Dayton Chaminade-Julienne stormed back for 14 goals in the second half and a 17-11 victory.
The Eagles tied the game at 5-5 to start the second half, but Sarah Lossie and Anna Degarmo had quick strikes to regain the lead at 7-5. Less than a minute later, Chaminade-Julienne began to heat up.
DCJ scored two more times before the Cavs' Kaitlyn Cunningham broke that tie (8-7) at the 17:22 mark. It would be the last lead for Chillicothe.
The Eagles outscored the Lady Cavs 10-3 the rest of the way.
Whitney Watts led Chillicothe (2-5) with 5 goals.
Chillicothe will play at Pickerington Central Wednesday.
The Chillicothe Track & Field teams were washed out at the Circleville Invitational Friday.
Coach Dana Cousins reports Trevan Pennington won the 110 Hurdles (15.2), Jalen Jones took the High Jump (6'2") with Marcus Dunn 2nd (6'). Josh Garrett placed second in discus (153'4") just 5 inches short of the winning distance. "Ben Haller ran his best time in the 1600" said Cousins, who added "We placed in 4x 200, Pole Vault and 100."
On the Girls side, Audra Metzler and Baylee Stark were in the finals of the long jump and sitting 2nd and 4th respectively. The Cavs had the two fastest times in the 200 prelims.
Coach Steve Semancik says the event was called just before the girls 4x 100 Meter Relay. The relay team had just posted their fastest time of the season in the 4x 200 relay.
Semancik added "Corinne Patino won the pole vault with a new personal record of 10 feet. Megan looked strong in running the 100 meter dash in 11.9 seconds." which was her best time of the year.
The Cavs will run in the SEOAL Meet at Warren next Saturday.
Chillicothe swept their meet at Vinton County Wednesday. (Correction: We incorrectly reported the meet as being at Teays Valley earlier in the week)
The Lady Cavs (70 pts) finished ahead of Reedsville Eastern (52 pts) and Vinton County (47 pts).
The Boys team won (96.5 pts), followed by Vinton County (45.5 pts) and Reedsville Eastern (26 pts).

Chillicothe will travel to participate in the Circleville Invitational Friday night.
Chillicothe Softball picked up a 5-1 win at Washington C.H. to lift their record to 9-13 to close out the regular season. The Cavs will face Logan Monday afternoon in a Sectional semi-final. There will be an admission charge at the game Monday, $6 for adults and $4 for students and children. The first pitch is 5:30pm.
The Baseball team finished the regular season 8-13 after falling at Washington C.H. 5-0.
The Cavaliers travel to Warren Monday to open the Southeast District Sectional tournament.
The Baseball Cavaliers dropped a make up game at Logan Elm 12-1 in 5 innings Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Lady Cavs fell at Waverly 16-4.
Both clubs play at Washington C.H. Wednesday.
The Cavs Lacrosse team has added a game to their schedule, heading to Delaware Thursday night. The Cavs will host Dayton Chaminade-Julienne for Senior Night Friday at McVicker Field at Mt. Logan Elementary.
Chillicothe just missed beating Gallia Academy Monday at OU-C.
It all came down to the 3rd Singles match. Stephen Gilliland won his first set 2-6 and narrowly lost this second 7-5. The third set went to Gallia 6-1.
Noah Adams and Gabe Preston easily won their respective 1st and 2nd Singles matches and the Cavs two Doubles teams of Mark Hirsch/ Noah Wright Piekarski and Jay Sparks/ KJ King had competitive matches.
The Cavalier netters are 2-12 and will travel to play Portsmouth Wednesday afternoon.

The Cavs will face familiar foes in their opening games of the Baseball and Softball Tournaments.
Marty Dunn's Cavs will take the long bus ride to Warren where they came up short 5-2 just last Wednesday. They'll contest their Sectional Semi-final on Monday May 7th at 5:30p. The two teams played a tight contest at Ron Hansel Field April 6th a 4-2 Cavalier loss.
Greg Phillips and his Lady Cavs will be home on Monday May 7th at 5:30p with the Logan Chieftains. The two schools are members of the Southeast District but are being shipped to play in the Central District's Division I tournament.
One run has decided their two league meetings this season, 6-5 Cavs loss at Logan and a 5-4 thrilling victory in Chillicothe.
Both the Chillicothe Boys and Girls finished third in the Cavalier Club Invitational Friday. A second group of Lady Cavs placed 10th.
Megan Osborne continued her excellent season winning the 100, 200 and 400 Meter Dashes. Chillicothe picked up wins by Corinne Patino in the Pole Vault and Baylee Stark in the Long Jump.
For the Boys, the Cavs Josh Garrett won the Discus and Jalen Jones took the High Jump.
Unioto won the Boys Meet and Westerville Central took the Girls'.
The Cavs have two meets in the coming week (at Teays Valley Wednesday and at the Circleville Invitational next Friday) before the SEOAL Meet on May 12th.
