Jackson came out on fire and pressed their way to a 63-30 win over the
Cavaliers at Hatton Gym Wednesday night.
The tenacious Jackson defense forced 19 Chillicothe turnovers during the first half… and the Ironladies scored off of most of them.
Jackson (16-1/7-1) got off to an 11-0 start before a layup by Bri Dawes found the bottom of the net with 4:43 remaining in the first period. Jackson didn’t back down, running out to a 22-4 lead to close out the quarter.
The Ironladies attack was so over whelming, they made as many shots (17) as the Lady Cavs were able to take over the first 16 minutes. By the half, Jackson’s Kari Jenkins had outscored the Cavaliers 16-15.
Chillicothe (8-9/2-6) shot just 16% from the field in the third quarter while Jackson jumped ahead 53-21.
Three Ironladies scored in double figures, led by Jenkins’ 16 points. Heather Chapman and Lydia Poe finished with 15 points each.
The Cavs’ top two scorers were Jenna Holton and Kaylee Wright with 8 points each.
Chillicothe will entertain Gallia Academy (3-13/0-7) Saturday night in the home finale at 7:30pm.
