Chillicothe's young wrestlers had a good showing at the St. Charles Invitational Saturday, placing 11th as a team.
Cristian Collins grabbed a championship in his weight class. Other Cavalier placers were Tom Dunn 6th, Gene Dunn and Austin Mathis had 5th place finishes and Jacob Price earned a 4th place finish.
The Cavs travel to Warren on February 11th for the SEOAL Championships.
The Boys and Girls Bowling teams earned wins over Huntington Thursday night at Shawnee Lanes.
Summer Finley led the girls with a 415 series for a 1414-1345 victory improving the Lady Cavs' record to 6-8 and 2-8 in the SCOC.
Donavon Keel rolled a 443 series in Chillicothe's 2234-1851 win. The Boys are 12-2 overall and 8-2 in the SCOC.
The teams travel to Maysville Saturday for the SCOC Coaches Challenge. Play begins at 1:00pm.
Jackson came out on fire and pressed their way to a 63-30 win over the Cavaliers at Hatton Gym Wednesday night.
The tenacious Jackson defense forced 19 Chillicothe turnovers during the first half… and the Ironladies scored off of most of them.
Jackson (16-1/7-1) got off to an 11-0 start before a layup by Bri Dawes found the bottom of the net with 4:43 remaining in the first period. Jackson didn’t back down, running out to a 22-4 lead to close out the quarter.
The Ironladies attack was so over whelming, they made as many shots (17) as the Lady Cavs were able to take over the first 16 minutes. By the half, Jackson’s Kari Jenkins had outscored the Cavaliers 16-15.
Chillicothe (8-9/2-6) shot just 16% from the field in the third quarter while Jackson jumped ahead 53-21.
Three Ironladies scored in double figures, led by Jenkins’ 16 points. Heather Chapman and Lydia Poe finished with 15 points each.
The Cavs’ top two scorers were Jenna Holton and Kaylee Wright with 8 points each.
Chillicothe will entertain Gallia Academy (3-13/0-7) Saturday night in the home finale at 7:30pm.

The Chillicothe Boys fell at Maysville by 100 pins in just their second loss of the season Monday.
Robbie Vest led the Cavs with a 436 series. Jarrad Zeisler was second best with a 403 series.
The Cavs record drops to 11-2 and 8-2 in the SCOC.

The Hartley Hawks went on a 6-0 run to close the 1st Quarter and the Lady Cavs we
playing catch up from that point on.
“We made a run in the 3rd” said Cavs coach Shawn Blue, “At the time, we had energy (to make the run) but their athleticism took over.”

Chillicothe boys bowling team defeated the New Lexington Panthers 2407 to 187 Saturday at Shawnee Lanes.

On the Girls side, New Lexington defeated the Lady Cavs 1744 to 1452.
The Lady Cavs are currently bowling shorthanded because of injuries. Summer Finley led the Lady
Cavs with a 427 series.
The Lady Cavs record falls to 5-7,( 2-7 in the SCOC).
Both teams resume action Monday (5pm), at All-Star Lanes in Maysville against Maysville.
The Lady Cavs Basketball team suffered a 51-39 loss at Portsmouth (11-4) Saturday.
Cavs coach Shawn Blue said Portsmouth had 12 offensive rebounds and the Cavs had trouble hitting basket.
Chillicothe (8-7/2-5) is home Monday night with Hartley.
Thursday, the Chillicothe swimmers traveled to Rio Grande for a pair of dual meets.
Both the Boys and Girls finished second to River Valley and defeated Gallia Academy.
Chillcothe boys bowling team defeated the Zanesville Blue Devils 2368 to 2291,Thursday night,at Sunrise Lanes in Zanesville.

On the girls side, the Lady Cavs were defeated by Zanesville,2153 to 1353. Summer Finley led the Lady Cavs with a 410 series. The lady Cavs record drops to 5-6.
Both teams resume action Saturday, at Shawnee Lanes,against New Lexington. The match begins at 10:00am.
Wednesday night, the Cavalier Girls (127) swam to the front of the pack for a Tri-Meet victory over Washington Court House (92) and Miami Trace (62).
The Lady Cavs earn nine first place finishes in eleven events.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Stewart, Smittley, Mettler and Mowery took first and the team of Gucwa, Arth, Limle and Lunde wear 4th place finishers. The Cavs finished 1st and 2nd in the 400 Free Relay teams of Stewart, Mettler, Gucwa and Mowery (1st) and Lunde, Burgin, Guerra and Smittley (2nd). The 200 Free Relay team of Limle, Burgin. Arth and Guerra were 3rd place finishers.
Individual winners included Clare Gucwa (200 Free), Hannah Mowery (200 IM), MacKenzie Smittley (100 Fly), Lexie Mettler (100 Free, 100 Breast) and Kassie Stewart (100 Back and 500 Free).
Miami Trace won the Boys meet (116) ahead of Washington Court House (110) and the Cavs (23).
The Cavs earned one event win, Dominic Villarreal in the 500 Free.
The Lady Cavs' game with Jackson has been rescheduled for Wednesday February 1st.
The Boys' two home games have been rescheduled, tonight (January 24th) with Logan and next Tuesday January 31st with Gahanna Lincoln, which will have an earlier start. The Freshmen will play in Larry Cox Memorial Gymnaisum and the Junior Varsity in Hatton Gym, both tipping off at 5:30pm and the Varsity game with the Lions will begin around 7:00pm.
All Cavalier events for Saturday 1/21 have been postponed due to the ice storm.
Once events are rescheduled, they'll be announced here.
