Chillicothe earned a nail-biting 36-35 win at Whetstone Wednesday night.

Coach Shawn Blue said the Cavs missed a good number of opportunities to  put the game away from the free throw line, but was happy to get through the season opener with a win.

The Cavs rallied from an 8-4 first period defecit to outscore Whetstone 14-6 in the second period to take an 18-14 halftime lead.

Whetstone tied the game at 27 by the end of the third period, but the Cavs previaled 36-35.

Jenna Holton paced the Cavs attack wth 18 points and 9 rebounds. Kayla Keener added 11 points and Bri Dawes grabbed another 9 rebounds.

Chillicothe will host Athens Saturday night in the first of four straight home games at Hatton Gym.
