Chillicothe earned a sweep of their Wrestling dual matches at Paint Valley Wednesday night.
The Cavs beat Westfall 43-30 and then host Paint Valley 57-17.
Chillicothe won six contested matches with Westfall and took two by forfeit and won four against the Bearcats and six more by forfeit.
“Caleb Price and Mike Williams returned to the line up to help pull off a tough fought duel with Westfall” said Cavs Wrestling coach Mike Peck. The Cavs welcomed back grapplers from injury, but had enough numbers to overcome some injuries that occurred last week to other members of the team.
Peck added “Gene Dunn battled through a dislocated finger midway through the first period of his 182 match against Westfall’s Perry Brady to win by fall in 5 minutes and 16 seconds.”
The first year head coach said Chillicothe gave up more pins than they would have liked “but that happens with a young team.”
In the Paint Valley Dual several wrestlers bounced back from early losses in the Westfall dual to come up with wins. Erik Alderman won his first match of the season at 170 by fall against Paint Valley’s Caleb Johnson.
Tyler Howard also recovered with a fall over Riley May from Paint Valley.
The main match of this dual was Paint Valley’s Tegan McFadden against Chillicothe’s Christian Collins. “Collins is return District qualifier as a sophomore and McFadden is coming off two seasons as a Junior High State Qualifer. Both wrestlers battled with neither giving up any big mistakes.” The more experienced Collins came up with a 6-1 win.
The Cavs are scheduled to participate in the Ross County Invitational at Southeastern High School on December 22nd.
