The Chillicothe Wrestling team improved to 11-2 in dual matches Tuesday night.
The Cavs traveled to Nelsonville York and beat the Buckeyes 47-29 and then defeated Warren 43-30.
Chillicothe’s defeat of Warren avenged a loss to the Warriors in December.
The win for Austin Mathis in the 220 was especially sweet. Coach Mike Peck said Mathis “was able to control the entire match (with Chris Massey) and score 5 team points with a technical fall.”
The Cavs had to contend with state level talent in Nelsonville York, which has only eight wrestlers, but Coach Peck adds “Every kid is very competitive.”
At 170 pounds Daiquan Hall faced off against returning Division 3 State Champion Zack Mays.
At 138 Pounds Jacob Johansen competed against Dakota Mays who placed 6th at State last season.
Christian Collins had a tough match against senior Mike Dailey. “Christian was able to overcome earlier penalty points and some mistakes to win 11 to 9.”
The Cavs will travel to Amanda Clearcreek on Saturday for the Jeff Arndt Invitational.
