Four Cavaliers Advance to the DII Wrestling Tournament

Nick Lawhorn (113), Caleb Price (132), Jacob Price (145) and Christian Collins earned their way in the DII District Wrestling Tournament with their performances at Alexander High School Saturday,

Caleb Price finished runner-up to Fairfield Union’s Stewart Ohelers, a state qualifier last winter.  Cavs Coach Mike Peck said “Caleb avenged a loss previously to Zack Carpenter of Sheridan in the semi-finals by decision in sudden death overtime 11-9.”

The other three wrestlers were third place finishers.

Lawhorn recorded a win by fall over Cortez Gainey of Athens in 4:17. Jacob Price finished 3rd with a pin over Mack Swackhammer in 2:35. And the gutsiest Chillicothe performance came from Christian Collins who had fought through flu symptoms. “He battled back from a last second semi-finals lost to Troy Stalder of Athens 4-2 to win 2 matches” said Peck.

The four Cavaliers will wrestle next weekend at Goshen High School. Daiquan Hall (170) and Tyler Howard (285) finished 5th in their weight divisions and will be alternates should another wrestler withdraw from the tournament at Goshen.
