Cavs Beat Jackson, Win SEOAL South

The Lady Cavaliers beat the Ironladies 47-27 to win the SEOAL South, Wednesday. The two teams remained close after one quarter with Chillicothe leading 9-5, but then stretching it to a 24-16 lead at the half. Chillicothe's defense remained strong as it held Jackson to only one shot in the third quarter, which came with 3 seconds remaining.
Chillicothe's Hannah Day led the team with 19 points, while Holly Lemay chipped in 12.
From the field, the Cavs led in scoring going 17-56 for 30%, while Jackson was 9/43 for 21%.
The win puts Chillicothe in position to host Zanesville on Saturday for the Day of Champions title game. The JV game will begin at noon, with the Varsity beginning at approximately 1:15pm.
Cavs bounce back with win at Portsmouth

Chillicothe picked up a 49-31 win at Portsmouth last night.
The Cavaliers trailed Portsmouth after the first quarter 8-6. Then they turned it around and led at halftime 21-11 and never looked back. The score was 35-20 after three periods.
The Cavs were led again by Hannah Day with 12 points and Holly Lemay with 10 points.
Chillicothe is now 13-5 overall and 9-2 in the SEOAL with a half game lead over Ironton for first place in the South.
They'll honor seniors Hannah Day, Vanessa Montgomery and Meghan Martin on February 11th vs Jackson.
The Jackson game is a make up game which will be part of a varsity double header with the Boys. The Girls will play Jackson at 6:00pm, followed by the Boys game with Portsmouth, rescheduled from last Tuesday. Both games will be broadcast on 1490 WBEX.
Zanesville Holds Off Cavs 49-41

Zanesville won that match in October, and took control in the third quarter of their basketball meeting. Chillicothe (12-5/8-2) wrestled the lead from Zanesville (13-4/7-2) in the second quarter. The Devils had gone ahead 11-7 through the first 8 minutes, but by halftime, Chillicothe was on top 20-18. The third quarter was the difference. Zanesville knocked down four three-pointers in an 18 point quarter to surge ahead 36-26 and not look back. Chillicothe outshot Zanesville at the line making 12 of 19 compared to 7 of 15 for the Devils. Hannah Day led Chillicothe with 18 points and Monique Lee added 11 more as Chillicothe dropped to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the SEOAL. Lady Cavs Earn Four Seed

The (12-4) Lady Cavs earned a four seed at the girls' high school tournament draw on Sunday. That puts Chillicothe against Logan Elm (9-5) in the sectional on February 18th at Adena High School. Coach Amy Hughes said she was happy with the placement as the coaches voted based on record, and as the Cavs had the fourth best record in the grouping. The complete Southeast District D-2 bracket can be found here. Chillicothe will play at Zanesville on Tuesday in a game that was postponed due to the recent inclement weather. Best case scenario, the game could be a preview of the Day of Champions as both teams lead their divisions in the SEOAL.

Just like the boys teams, the Lady Cavs and Blue Devils have a game to make up.
Saturday's 1:00pm will have to wait until later.
Chillicothe participates in the Southeast District tournament draw in Jackson on Sunday.
The Sectional tournament games are set for Adena High School, with Southern hosting theDistrict Semi-finals, while this year, the District Final will be played at the Convo at OU.
The Lady Cavs are joined in the tournament by Unioto, Miami Trace, Washington Court House, Circleville, Logan Elm, Hillsboro, McClain and Waverly.
Chillicothe-Jackson POSTPONED

Just like the boys' game Tuesday, thanks to the snow storm that swept into the Scioto Valley Tuesday, classes were cancelled for both schools.
It's also postponed the game between the Lady Cavs and Ironladies.
The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday Febrauary 11th.
Lady Cavs Gain OT Win, Beat Warren 58-47

Chillicothe's Lady Cavs went into overtime to outlast Warren 58-47. The Cavs went 12 for 14 at the free throw line in the overtime period with Holly LeMay hitting 7 of 8 shots and Hannah Day 5 of 6 to outscore Warren 12 to 1 in the extra frame.
CHS led 15-11 after the first quarter and held a 27-20 lead at the half. Chillicothe held on to a 35-33 lead after the third before being tied at 46 in regulation.
Warren had a chance to take the lead with 5.1 seconds left but missed 2 free throws.
The Cavs called time out to set up a play. Chillicothe's Hannah Day drove the entire length of the floor but missed a lay up at the buzzer.
Day led three Cavs in double figures with 20 points. Monique Lee scored 19 and Lemay added 13.
Chillicothe improves to 8-1 in the SEOAL and 12-4 overall. Warren drops to 3-6 in the league and 8-8 on the season.
The Lady Cavs host Jackson Wednesday night. Greg Bigham and Vanessa Doyle will call the game on 1490 WBEX.
Cavs Sweep Ironton With 29-28 Win

The Chillicothe Lady Cavs took over sole possession of the SEOAL South Division with a season series sweeping 29-28 victory at Ironton Wednesday. Chillicothe trailed only twice, both times in the first quarter.
The Cavs grabbed a 5-4 lead to end the quarter, and extended their lead to 17-11 by halftime.
In the third quarter, Ironton whittled away and knotted the game at 19 with less than three minutes remaining, but the Cavs ended the period on a 5-2 run to lead 24-19.
Ironton pulled to within a point but couldn't overtake Chillicothe. Brittny Strawser led Chillicothe with 13 points. Strawser and Hannah Day combined for 21 of the Cavs' 29 points.
The Cavs are 7-1 in the SEOAL and 11-4 overall. Ironton slips to 7-2 in the league and 10-4.
Chillicothe will host Warren Saturday.
Cavs bounce back with Sunday win

The Lady Cavs followed up a disappointing loss in Marietta with an impressive 45-38 victory over Glen Este at Pickerington Central in the Fairfield Federal Girls Prep Shootout.
Chillicothe trailed 10-7 after 8 minutes of play, but surged ahead 18-15 at the half.
Glen Este cut the lead to 32-31 through three quarters, but the Lady Cavs kept the Trojans at bay with a 13-7 fourth period.
Hannah Day led three Cavs in double figures with 17 points. Brittny Strawser poured in 13 and Monique Lee added 11 more.
Like Chillicothe, Glen Este split its weekend of games. The Lady Trojans beat Bexley (Saturday) before falling to Chillicothe (Sunday) and head back to Batavia 10-2.
With the win, Chillicothe improves to 10-4, and readies for a trip to Ironton Wednesday.
