A petition to dissolve the Village of Orient in Pickaway County, has failed to gain enough signatures to get on the November ballot.

While only 32 signatures were necessary to get on the ballot and the petitioner had 38, the Pickaway County Board of Elections voted not to allow it because the petitioner said he witnessed 36 being signed even though 38 appeared.

Proponents of the plan want to dissolve the village of 270 residents and turn it over to Scioto Township.
