Holiday garbage collection could get the ax if Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson gets his way- as he continues to look for ways to cut the budget.

Everson says current contracts with AFSCME workers in the city calls for "triple-time" pay to work on holidays. Everson says their recent garbage rate increase is already spoken for in the need of new equipment purchases.

The mayor is meeting with union officials in hopes they can find an alternative to holiday garbage collection to save the city money.
