More local employees are being encouraged to set up payroll deduction plans to give to United Way of Ross County.

"Some people have a little bit more of a paperwork situation than others, but (at) most companies, it's an easy thing to set up, " said Katherine Szczesniak, campaign co-chair, "and if not, they can call the United Way office and get help."

Unlike years ago, Szczesniak said that the campaign remains open throughout the year, which allows people to continuing giving gifts to United Way.

"All of the funds that come in during the fall go to our campaign totals for that specific year, but we continuously appreciate any donations that are given."

The campaign received a corporate gift of $30,000 from Glatfelter, Tuesday, and another $24,695 from Horizon employees. That brings their total to 27.6% of the $625,000 goal.
