A group of representatives from organizations that work to feed the hungry met at the Ross County Service Center, Wednesday, to build a shared response to the issue. Colin Baumgartner, with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, said the Ross County Hunger Team has come together very well.

"This is really the first county where I've seen that people are building off of each other and the work that they're doing," said Baumgartner," and we've seen people kind of embrace not only what their passion is but how they can connect their passion with what other people's passions are."

He said hunger is a statewide issue with 1 in 6 Ohioans struggling with food insecurity.

"And what that tells us, and I think what that tells this group, is that there is a lot of hard work still to go."

In a local effort to spread the word on what resources are available to those in need, Gary and Dawn Caudill, volunteers with the Good Samaritan Food Network, have compiled an updated list of food pantry and soup kitchen sites.

After the new year, the conversations will expand county to county.
