A kitchen fire broke out 1668 Biers Run Rd Sunday afternoon causing second degree burns to the homeowner and killed a dog.

Multiple fire departments were dispatched shortly before 2pm after receiving reports of the fire.

The owner went back into the home to try and rescue and the dog but was unsuccessful.
