First initiated in 1620, townships are being touted by a recent report by Wendell Cox as an efficient form of government.
Robert Wakefield, presidet of the Ross County Township Association, says townships don't spend money they don't have and despite a decrease in real estate values and cuts in the state's local government fund, townships have been able to survive.
Concord Twp Fiscal Officer Ben Junk says an important function of townships is also upkeep of cemetaries.
