William Inman, Sr. has been found guilty for his role in the death of his daughter-in-law, Summer Inman.

It took the jury just over 2 hours to convict Inman of aggravated murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse.

"This is just a phase of our life that we'll step through and continue on and take care of her kids," said Mike Cook, Summer's father.

Both Mike and his wife Debbie said they were happy to close this chapter. This was the final trial in the death of their daughter.

"We don't care if he gets life in prison or the death penalty. It doesn't matter. He's going to get what he deserves," Debbie said.

The Cooks said they didn't return to Logan once the jury got the case.

"We didn't go back to Logan because it was like 'how could they not see?' There's so much that they weren't told and yet they were still able to come to the conclusion that was right," Debbie said.

The defense argued that while Inman was involved in the case he did not kill Summer. Her estranged husband, William Inman, Jr. and mother-in-law, Sandra Inman, had already been convicted for their roles in the crime.

Summer was kidnapped from a bank parking lot in Logan. Her body was found in a septic tank at a nearby church. She had been strangled to death with a zip tie around her neck.

The Cooks said the Inmans always wanted to appear like life was perfect for the couple, but Summer eventually had enough and left.

"To be able to leave him and say 'I don't want my children to have to be raised like this and to go through what I've gone through' she really did give her life to protect them," Debbie said.

The jury will decide if Inman should die for his crimes. The penalty phase of the trial begins on Wednesday.
