A Chillicothe man has been told he has been disqualified from running for city council, because his residence is no longer in the ward he sought office for. Republican Tom Castor was seeking the Fifth Ward Chillicothe City Council seat, where he has been a resident since the early 1960s.
Castor says when he went to the board of elections for petitions in January, the board's maps still showed him as a Fifth Ward resident. But, the map should have shown changes from the most recent U.S. Census, moved his home into the third ward.
The Ross County Board of Elections voted Tuesday they were disqualifying Castor's petition, and said since the deadline had passed, he could not seek the third ward seat in this election.
