April 25th marks the ten year anniversary, of when two teenage boys deliberately set fire to the historic downtown Carlisle Building. The building still stands, awaiting the heralded restoration plan involving the Chesler Group ownership and long-term tenant Adena Health Systems.
Mayor Jack Everson says there is no question, the empty Carlisle Building has hampered new downtown development over the past decade. Everson also says a "bad message" about the city was conveyed, due to the slow process of getting a final resolution to the restoration question.
Developers are hoping to get restoration work underway within the year.
