The newest member of the Chillicothe Fire Department has joined their staff, thanks to State Farm Insurance. State Farm provided funding for the training of the fire departments new arson dog- "Gunther".
Assistant Fire Chief Steve Gallagher says Gunther is the second arson dog the department has used, replacing their former dog "Winchester".
State Farm Insurance paid to train Gunther, something they have been doing for fire departments in the United States and Canada since 1993.
Since 2009, there have been more than 41,000 arson related fires at a cost of $792 million.
