Waverly Village Council members have agreed to drop a proposed resolution that sought to implement fees for the use of village-owned baseball and softball fields.
Council voted 4-1 to drop the resolution that if passed, would have instituted an annual fee of $160 per team for the right to play games and practice on village-owned fields. The resolution also required a $250 per field per day fee for tournament play.
Councilman Forest Blakeman proposed to drop the legislation following opposition from the village youth leagues and other members of the community. League representatives say the legislation would have cost the youth leagues several thousand dollars more per year to run their games.
