Ross County Sheriff George Lavender says his office is investigating an incident early Saturday that led to the death of one man and injuries to several other people.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence at the 300 block of Wildflower Lane at approximately 1:30am in reference to a disturbance.
Deputies arrived and found 39-year-old Patrick L. Thomas unresponsive lying on the front porch of the residence. Thomas was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Thomas' sister, Regina Thomas, claims she was told by doctors at Adena Regional Medical Center that her brother was hit in the head with a ball bat.
Deputies observed that the residence was occupied by several subjects. Many of the subjects inside the residence were treated for various injuries by squad members.
The Ross County Sheriff’s office Detectives Division has been assigned to the incident. Detectives are in the process of obtaining numerous witness statements, collecting evidence from the residence, and are awaiting results of an autopsy to be performed on Thomas.
This incident is still currently under investigation by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the Ross County Coroner’s Office, and BCI. Further details will be released as they become available.
No charges had been filed at the time of the report.
