SVC league play opened in boys basketball Friday, including a tight match-up involving preseason favorite Piketon winning at home against Westfall. The margin stayed within five points most of the game, with the Redstreaks hanging-on for a 50-46 victory.
Despite grabbing 20 offensive rebounds and forcing 20 Mustangs turnovers, Piketon was chilly from the field, shooting only 16/61 against Westfall's zone defense.
Alek Stonerock of Westfall, led all players with 21 points, while Doug Hardin added 11. Piketon had an 18-point performance from Craigen Moore, Wyatt Brewster with 11 and Isaac Brabson with 9 points.
Piketon stands at (1-0/1-0) and Westfall drops to (0-1/0-2).
