While the Ohio High School Athletic Association is taking a "neutral stance" on this May's Public-Private School referendum, it is obvious the governing body of high school sports would like for this plan to go down, to allow for a more moderate version.

The referendum was brought to OHSAA by a 100 signature petition filed by schools mostly in northeast Ohio after two consecutive referendums failed, that would have added weighted factors to make competition more competitive among all school divisions.

OHSAA leadership told media members Wednesday that an affirmative vote on the issue would create several difficulties that few people have thought through.

Associate Commissioner Bob Goldring says if this plan would be voted down, he is confident the OHSAA would come back with what they believe would be a more balanced plan.
