The Piketon Redstreaks move a step closer to an SVC Boys Basketball championship with a 57-43 win Friday against the Shermans, knocking (8-4) Unioto from the title chase.
Piketon's win moves them to (11-1) in the SVC, a game ahead of (8-2) Zane Trace in the loss column, setting up their title bout Friday, at Piketon. A Redstreaks win there, would hand them the outright championship. That game will be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ.
The Red Streaks broke open a close game in the third quarter, after leads of 12-10 after one quarter and 22-20 at halftime. Piketon built a 39-29 lead on 80% shooting from the floor in that big third period.
For the game, the Redstreaks were 22/47 for 47%. They were 0/6 from the arc and 13/23 at the foul line.
Unioto was 17/47 in the field for only 36%- including 4/13 from the arc.
The Shermans were plagued with 17 turnovers, while Piketon had only 8.
6'5 Piketon junior forward Jeremy Farmer led all players with 20 points/8 rebounds, followed by Craigen Moore with 14 points.
Unioto was led by Erique Hosley's 11 points and Kyle Strange added 10. Chase Detillion had 13 rebounds.
Only one other SVC game was played Friday, as Adena picked up their third win of the season with a 60-43 win against Westfall. Southeastern at Paint Valley and Zane Trace at Huntington were postponed.
