Huntington High School will be seeking a new boys' basketball coach for next season. The agenda for Huntington's March 11th board meeting indicates that Travis Rinehart has submitted his resignation.
He said he's stepping away to spend more time with his family: "I've been coaching for the last ten years, and with a one year old and a three year old, it's just been a lot of time away from home, and I know that those days that you miss being around them you can't go back and redo them."
Rinehart just completed his second season as head coach of the Huntsmen, where they finished with a win-loss record under .500.
Rinehart said after talking it over with his wife, he told the boys about his decision at the end of the season.
"I wanted to make sure they knew it wasn't anything about them," he said. "I wanted them to be confident to know that I still have there back, ... most of them have another year to play, at least, and I'll be their biggest fan in the stands."
Huntsmen Cross Country Coach Kim Ginther is also resigning from her post.
