It was a tough evening for SVC Girls basketball teams Wednesday, with only one out of four teams advancing past the first round.
Southeasern Lady Panthers were that lone team, moving to the Division 3 Sectional final Saturday with a 56-33 win over Federal Hocking. Southeastern plays the Lady Spartans at 4:30pm Saturday at Athens High School, in a game to be broadcast on WKKJ.
Elsewhere Wednesday, Zane Trace saw their season come to a close, falling to Warren 55-37 in the Division 2 semis at Logan High School.
Back to Division 3, Adena Lady Warriors exit the season with only one win to their credit, falling to Portsmouth West for the second time in the last week, 62-38.
In Division 4, Paint Valley lost to Leesburg Fairfield 43-37.
There was one regular season game involving SVC girls teams Wednesday, with Piketon beating Huntington 50-40. This game is somewhat of a tune-up for both clubs, who are in tournament action in the D-3 sectional finals Saturday.
Huntington plays Northwest at 2:45pm Saturday at Lucasville Valley High School, while Piketon's Lady Redstreaks meeting West Union in the finals at Valley Hs at 6:15pm.
The Piketon game will be one of a triple-header broadcast on WKKJ, preceded by Southeastern-Alexander at 4:30pm and another sectional final at 2:45pm. That opener would involve SVC champ Unioto, if they advance past Thursday, or Westfall vs Crooksville if Unioto fails to advance.
