West Union 71, Piketon 67 in OT
The Dragons of West Union played much better than a (10-11) record might indicate in their victory over (12-10) Piketon. West Union built a 12 point lead and held their advantage until the Redstreaks took their first lead of the game at 44-43 early in the fourth period. Piketon would hold a three point lead and saw the lead go back-and-forth before falling back by six points, before Zack Jordan hit two of his three treys for the game to even the score at 55-55.
Trailing 59-56, Casey Moore collected an "old-fashion" three to tie the score at 59-59, and went into overtime when West Union failed to score in their final possession.
As they had most of the night, Piketon fell behind early in the OT, 64-59, but battled back to tie it 67-67, before West Union scored the last four points of the game.
The Dragons were led by 6'2 junior James Sellars 22 points and 5 rebounds, while Tyler Sininger added 13 and Trenton Price 12. A big defensive effort by 6'4 junior Brady Hinkle saw him grab 14 rebounds, block 4 shots and add 7 points.
Piketon saw an incredible performance from Wyatt Brewster, who played most of the second half with leg cramps, but still poured-in 31 points. Jeremy Farmer added 11 and Zack Jordan 9.
West Union shot 25/56 for 45%- including 3/10 from the arc, while also adding 18/21 from the foul line. Piketon shot 22/56 for 39%- including 7/18 from the arc and were 16/24 from the charity stripe.
