A survey showed Ross County has a higher compliance rate in using safety belts.

Last week, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and Chillicothe Police Department conducted the Mobile Safety Shield initiative in Ross County to work towards creating a strategic alliance with an emphasis on crash causing violations.

The five-day initiative took place during peak crash times, 7am to 7pm, April 16th through April 20th, and resulted in 685 total traffic stops, with zero fatalities, and 80 safety belt citations.

A safety belt survey showed that Ross County now has a 64% compliance rate, an increase from the last survey at 59%.
