Fundraser held at AMVETS Thursday

There might be a Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Chillicothe soon. That's what Darrell Robertson from the AMVETS would like to see. Robertson said it all started with a float that he built for a parade on 2005.

"In 2005 there was a welcome home Vietnam Vets parade and I built a float, after the  parade I made myself a promise to help establish and raise funds to build a monument to honor the 23 guys from Ross County that was killed."

A fundraiser was held at the AMVETS on Thursday, where Dave Blosser, Darrell Robertson and Gary Sallade all spoke about their desire to see a monument in Chillicothe. The group said they would like to raise at least $30,000 for a granite monument that would sit along Yoctangee Parkway.

Dave Blosser spoke about the need to never forget the names of those who served and Gary Sallade gave a speech about his time in Vietnam stating "2.7 million men went over to Vietnam, 210,000 men who went over were from Ohio, 3,000 of them, never came home and 23 of those men were from Ross County."....Click Here

Those 23 names would be engraved on the black granite monument they hope to have built by 2013.

Dave Blosser and Darrell Robertson said any one can donate anytime....Click Here
