Sirens went off by mistake in a number of Ross County communities

Tornado sirens in a number of Ross County communities were set-off by mistake Tuesday evening.

Ross County Sheriff George Lavender confirmed that the sirens sounded throughout the county by mistake, even though there were no tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued throughout Highland, Fayette, Ross, Pickaway and Pike counties between 6-8pm and a Tornado Watch remains in place until 1am Wednesday for the entire area.
