Three Ross County highways would pay tribute to Aaron Reed, David Gibson, and Joshua Gire.
State Representative Gary Scherer announced that the Ohio House passed House Bill 325, which designates 33 memorial highways throughout the state, including three in Ross County.
The "Lance Cpl. Aaron Reed Memorial Highway" will be designated on U.S. Route 50, from its divergence off of U.S. Route 35 to State Route 327. Reed was killed in August of 2005 while serving in Iraq, when the assault vehicle in which he was riding was hit by an improvised explosive device during combat operations.
The "David A. Gibson Memorial Highway" will be designated on State Route 104 between Williamsport Pike and Pennyroyal Road. Gibson, who was a corrections officer at CCI, died in a motor vehicle accident in March of 2009.
The "Staff Sergeant Joshua Gire Memorial Highway" will be designated on State Route 772 from the border of Pike and Ross counties to the boundary of Chillicothe. Gire died in combat in Afghanistan on March of 2011.
The house bill will now be sent to the Senate.
