Councilman Nancy Ames says the need for dollars is still there.

Thursday night, residents made their donations to Chillicothe's "Fill the Pool" event lending their financial support for the upkeep of the Donald M. Smith Memorial Pool in Yoctangee Park.

City Council's Nancy Ames considers the event a success, but adds there's still more to do. The yearly operating costs for the pool are around 110-thousand-dollars, due to costs for chemicals, upkeep, staffing which his always a strain on the city's budget.

Ames says she and the City are grateful for how the community is beginning to help out. Ames adds there are more fundraisers in mind to continue to raise funds, including a water Zumba fundraiser and the return of the Doggie Swim which was a big hit last summer.

Anyone interested in making a financial contribution can make their check payable to the City of Chillicothe with "Fill the Pool" in the memo section. The donations can be made at the Mayor's Office in City Hall which is adorned with large "Fill the Pool" banner.
