The new section of the plant makes material for solar modules

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu recognized the grand opening of DuPont’s expanded manufacturing plant in Circleville, Tuesday, and called on Congress to extend the expiring clean energy tax credits that made this investment possible.

The Circleville plant, which received $50 million in federal clean energy tax credits, produces thin film material which strengthens the performance and durability of solar modules.

The expansion adds to the manufacturing capabilities to the plant, providing capacity to support over 10 gigawatts of photo-voltaic module production annually.

To support this expansion, DuPont hired several hundred construction workers and has created 70 permanent operational jobs at the plant, in addition to investing the $295 million expansion investment.
