More people are taking to the water with warm weather.

With the arrival of warmer weather, the First Capital District Chapter of the American Red Cross is promoting water safety.

Executive Director Mary McCord says you should always have rescue equipment near the water, such as
a first-aid kit, life jackets, and a phone near the pool.

She also reminds parents to prevent unsupervised access to water, and if a child goes missing, be sure to check for him or her in the water first.
